A food essay about Riff Raff Brewing Co, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado by James Bonner

Craft Beer and Culinary Comfort: Riff Raff's Brewing Company, Pagosa Springs' Premier Destination for Flavorful Brews and Locally-Sourced Cuisine!

Pagosa Springs, Colorado, is an interesting town in southeastern Colorado. Along the popular downtown strip is the Riff Raff Brewing Company, one of the more well-known spots for beer enthusiasts and foodies. With a laid-back atmosphere and a passion for brewing quality craft beer, this brewery is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the area, regardless of the waitstaff and service.

At Riff Raff's, the beers are more than just beverages, they're a work of southeastern Coloradan art. From crisp lagers to hoppy IPAs and rich stouts, there's a brew to suit every palate. A personal favorite is their signature Pagosa Pale Ale, a refreshing beer that captures the essence of the Rockies. But Riff Raff's is not just about beer. The food is among the best in town. Their menu features a great selection of dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Whether you're craving a burger, a sandwich, or a fresh salad, their kitchen has something for everyone.

I recommend Riff Raff's but with an asterisk. The service is awful. The first time I went to Riff Raff's, I waited several minutes to be acknowledged. I peeked my head into the bar in the next room, and got the bartender's attention, who without making eye contact, said only "Someone will be with you in a moment." I've never waited longer to be acknowledged and never was, I left and ate somewhere else. I knew the food at Riff Raff's would be great if I were ever allowed to experience it so I went back, and now I can speak to the fact that Riff Raff is the best restaurant in Pagosa Springs. With their notable beers, delicious foods, live music, and rustic Colorado mountain town ambiance, Riff Raff is the ideal spot to unwind after a day in the hot springs and after exploring Pagosa Springs but be prepared for inconsistent if not outright poor service.
